Fave local bike route: Tour de Bullfrog. You've heard of the Tour de France and there's an actual local bike ride called the Tour de Frederick. Well, there's a long road called Bullfrog Road that spans the Maryland/Pennsylvania border and we explored all 14 miles of it a few weeks ago, to create the Tour de Bullfrog. Should we make shirts? Yes, we should make shirts.

The starting line Credit: A O'Brien Fave meteorological sighting: clouds. Summer is the classic time for some great cloud watching, especially in the afternoon after a hot, humid day. It's also a source of frustration as you try to plan your outdoor events after work as those pesky cumulus clouds grow into a tower. If you're a cloud junky like me, check out Gavin Pretor-Pinney's The Cloud Collector's Handbook and the Cloud Appreciation Society.

Dramatic, no? Credit: A O'Brien Fave summer veggie: zucchini. I have mixed luck year to year with home-grown zucchini, but this year is proving to be a prolific one so for the next 72 hours, it's zuke bread, zuke cookies, grilled zuke, zuke on pizza, zuke fritters. I may be suffering from zuke brain but it is glorious. And delicious.

Fave doodles: cartoons. When I was in high school, I created a simple single-frame comic after my horse Wimpy. I had the best time coming up with corny one-liners that fit within my extremely limited artistic ability. A few weeks ago I was wrestling with making a home-made birthday card for my dad and BINGO: instant reason to create another corny toon. So I present to you: Area 51 1/2 which follows the adventures of the alien Zap and his friend the feral purple burro, Thunderbird AKA Bird. Hope to be able to share more of their adventures with you soon.
